IPMA Level A — Certified Project Director
Requirements
At least 5 years of work experience in strategically significant portfolio and/or programme management, including 3 years in a position of responsible leadership in complex portfolio or programme management and 2 years in project management.
Core Competence
A professional at this level performs the role of PROJECT DIRECTOR within the project team. With the support of project management professionals, a project director must be able to manage portfolios and programmes by directing the leaders (managers) of other projects:
- Manages the complex portfolio of a company/organisation or one of its divisions, or manages one or more major programmes, and coaches project leaders (managers) to help them develop their project management competencies
- Leads project managers and senior project managers, and manages members of the portfolio and programme team
- Develops and provides the project management requirements, culture, processes, methods, techniques, tools, resources, and reference handbooks for the programme and portfolio
